Winter Haven is a great city for a family vacation. Not only is Winter Haven a beautiful vacation destination with warm temperatures year-round, more than 40 lakes to enjoy, and a rich history, it has major theme parks in or near the city. Booking your vacation in Winter Haven gives you the best of both worlds and endless activities to enjoy during your vacation.
Winter Haven, Florida
LEGOLAND Florida is the largest LEGOLAND in the United States and second largest in the world. The 145-acre theme park has a water park, 45 rides, shows and attractions (featured on their website), and is geared toward families with children 12 years old or younger. However, adults will love the theme park’s onsite hotel, botanical gardens, restaurants, and various shopping areas. LEGOLAND Florida is in Winter Haven, so it is convenient and easy to find.
Busch Gardens is in Tampa, which is less than an hour’s drive away from Winter Haven. Operated by SeaWorld Enterprises, the 335-acre theme park is a 19th-century African-themed animal park. It is adjacent to their sister water park, Adventure Island. The rides, water rides, exhibits, shows, and displays are plentiful. Great care is taken in each of the culture-specific areas of the park. Everyone in your group will find something for them. For more information, visit their website and plan your activities. Busch Gardens is competitively priced with special day rate tickets available. Based on attendance, the Tampa Busch Gardens is the second most visited Busch Gardens in the country.
Walt Disney World
Of course, our Florida theme park list would not be complete without mentioning the leader of the pack. Walt Disney World. This world-renowned vacation destination is more like a small city than a theme park and located only 31 miles from Winter Haven. That is less than an hour away and so worth the drive. Walt Disney World has it all. This location features four theme parks and two water parks, as well as countless rides, shows, characters, parades, live performances, exhibits, and more. With hotels on site, shopping, restaurants, and entertainment all accessible by bus, boat, or Monorail (a single-track railway), you can easily travel around the area, but you cannot see everything in one day. This is the type of trip that requires at least a weekend. There is always something new at this legendary theme park.
Universal Studios Orlando
Less than 40 miles from Winter Haven is the second largest theme park in Florida, Universal Studios Orlando (behind Walt Disney World Resorts). Owned by NBC Universal, this massive facility features two theme parks, Universal Studios and Island of Adventure, and a water park, Volcano Bay. The resort offers five different hotels and a large dining, shopping, and entertainment complex that is open to the public known as Universal City Walk. There is an amazing menu of things to do and see. Please go to their website for more information. Again, this is not the kind of theme park you can experience in one day. Prepare to spend several days enjoying the attractions, restaurants, and events.
If you are an animal lover, you need to visit SeaWorld Orlando for a unique theme park experience. SeaWorld Orlando features two theme parks, including its sister park, Discovery Cove, and a water park, Aquatica. This world-famous theme park is only 35 miles from Winter Haven. The park offers many rides, shows, and attractions to choose from, but SeaWorld is also dedicated to education, conservation, and wildlife rescue. The park has all the exciting features of other theme parks and then some.
As you can see, Winter Haven is a great, central location for theme park lovers. Stay a few days in this great little city and experience more than one of the famous theme parks that are found in Central Florida.
